Eat Pray Love

By Elizabeth Gilbert.

What can only be described as one of THE most amazing, inspirational books I have ever read.
In this beautiful, engaging, entertaining memoir, Gilbert takes you through her journey of giving up a life of security, marriage, her house and stability to become herself once again and get to know that life and soul of a girl that she once was.

As she describes her breakup as a likeness to a skeletal crack addict, zombie-like mess, dealing with sleepless nights and an inhability to eat . Gilbert finds herself once again through travel, and begins her journey in Italy, developing new friendships, language and a passionate relationship with her newly found Carbs - Gilbert indulges and devours in every inch, flavour and moment that unfolds, as she watches herself grow she strives upon the next good `pizza joint`
After four months in Italy, her second stop is India, where she stays at an ashram trying to find spirituality through meditation. Gilbert descibes hilarious arguments inside her own head whilst finding it difficult to get into 'the zone.' As she finally gives trying, she falls into a natural state of tranquility, her thoughts becoming clear and she begins teaching her mind in how to change thoughts and see appreciation for everything whether bad or good, and wrap everything up in a little piece of love.
After becoming higher and higher up withing the ashram, Bali is next where she re-visits a witch doctor she had met many years before, the pair grow close and he begins to see things about her she never knew herself. He begins to teach her what he knows and she takes on the ability to help other people, becoming this amazing new person while she falls in love once again and finds amazing new friendships which are downright beautiful and in parts hilariously funny.

During my time of reading this book I was actually living in Greece and the book actually mysteriously disappeared (I`m guessing someone somewhere in the world is wondering who`s book it was in the first place and where it came from after flicking past the first page and reading some of the nicest words written to me having it flown halfway across the world to be passed down.)
So, therefore I am not ENTIRELY sure of what happens next, and I hope this adds to the suspension...
HOWEVER ..............  Columbia Pictures actually bought movie rights and are bringing it out on the big screens in August starring Julia Roberts as the lead role. The trailer for it looks amazing! Though I always say the book is almost always 100% better and would definitely recommend it before seeing the movie.

So my favourite quotes from the book, I totally love the way in which she thinks and feels;
"I crossed the street to walk in the sunshine"

"The mosquitos here are big enough to rape a chicken!"

"You need to learn how to select your thoughts just in the same way ou select your clothes each day, this is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. Its the only thing you should be trying to control."

"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. Your fight for it. Strive for it. Insist upon it. Sometimes you travel the world for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings."

"Eventually, everything goes away"

A defiinite uplifting inspiration of a read to change your thoughts for good.
Well done 'Liz.'
